Wreath Series

As an item of cultural significance, wreaths are synonymous with the festive season and Yuletide decoration. However I wanted to explore the possibility of creating a series of wreaths that could be enjoyed as artworks all year round. I wanted to push the limits of working with delicate materials and create works that felt wild and free.
Wreath making can be painstaking and technically challenging, yet this gives way to the pleasure of engaging in time honoured craft processes. Many thanks to Larissa Hrstic for her creative input in the development of this series.

Daisy Mirror Series

My intention when creating this series was to highlight one of Australia's most beloved native wildflowers, Xerochrysum Bracteatum (Paper Daisies), by grouping en masse and playing with specular refraction through a mirrored surface.
Working with them closely, I was intrigued to find the daisies seemed to have distinct personalities, and I found myself creating various narratives for them over time. Some daisies wanted to hide away, whilst others wanted the limelight and the project became an unexpected journey into anthropomorphism.

Roseologist X Lauren Sutton

This body of work developed out of a collaboration between Canberra photographer Lauren Sutton, and The Roseologist. Exploring our shared passion for the botanical world, Lauren and myself have created a collection of images that celebrate the interplay between natural forms of botanical materials and the artistic composition that occurs through arranging and photographing them.
Through our collaborative process, we aim to make compositions that honour the simple beauty of our botanical subjects.
